The very first crop of the year has been planted. The peas are in the ground but it looks like we’re going to have to wait for all this rain to stop before anything else gets planted. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to get the peas planted before the rain hit. We started out in the morning thinking that we would just have to make a few adjustments to the planter and then we would be able to plant the peas. I thought we would be done by lunch time. Apparently I was wrong.
We started by putting the last few parts on the planter and then we went to the field to test the planter and make the final adjustments. We spent a large part of the rest of the day dealing with computer issues and other technical issues with the planter. Finally, after many adjustments we got the peas in the ground and now it’s just a waiting game. Wait for the rain to stop so we can plant more crops and wait for the peas (and asparagus) to come up. In the mean time we will be making some more adjustments to the planter so that hopefully things will go smoother next time.
Who’s excited for sugar snap peas? I know I am. When the rain stops we’ll be planting sweet corn (my favorite) and some other yummy veggies.
