The garlic is growing. Yesterday I spent some time walking the garlic to measure how much we have (in acres) and to flag the garlic. We have 0.46 acres of garlic growing to supply our market and another 0.37 acres of seed production. Unfortunately there are also several rows of garlic that are not growing.
The garlic that is not growing is garlic that was transplanted last fall. At this point it is a mystery why this has happened, but we’re keeping an eye on it. On the upside the seed production garlic is doing really well.
The next step is fertilizer and weeding. Then before we know it we will have garlic ready.
